چکیده

This paper presents a 3D navigation subsystem providing speciic treatments needed for the perception and the navigation of an all-terrain mobile robot. This subsystem was developed and integrated in the global framework of the EDEN experimentation. After a brief description of this outdoor navigation experimentation , we describe the natural environment representations we use; two important perception functions based on 3D data are involved here : fast construction of elevation maps and robot localization. We then describe the 3D motion planner dedicated to the navigation on rugged terrains. The current state of integration of the experiment is nally presented by the mean of experimental results obtained from the natural environment of the mobile robot ADAM.

Navigation of a Mobile Robot Using Virtual Potential Field and Artificial Neural Network

Mobile robot navigation is one of the basic problems in robotics. In this paper, a new approach is proposed for autonomous mobile robot navigation in an unknown environment. The proposed approach is based on learning virtual parallel paths that propel the mobile robot toward the track using a multi-layer, feed-forward neural network. For training, a human operator navigates the mobile robot in ...

Fuzzy behavior navigation for an unmanned helicopter flying in an indoor environment

There are many aerial missions in hostile urban and indoor environments where human intervention is considered difficult or dangerous. Accomplishment of such missions require use of unmanned autonomous aerial vehicles (UAV). Unmanned air vehicles for such missions must be equipped with a fully autonomous navigation system. Many methods that have been proposed for navigation of autonomous system...

Terrain Classification Techniques From Ladar Data For Autonomous Navigation

Autonomous navigation remains a considerable challenge, primarily because of the difficulty in describing the environment of the robot in a way that captures the variability of natural environments. In this paper, we focus on the problem of extracting the ground terrain surface from sparse 3-D data from LADAR mobility sensors, including the segmentation of the terrain from obscuring vegetation....
